Die Zeit fliegt

und inzwischen bin ich schon wieder ein Jahr älter geworden.  Obwohl es gestern fast den ganzen Tag geregnet hat, haben wir den Samstag genossen.  Ich hatte am Morgen noch Obstboden gemacht, und noch ein paar andere Kuchen zum Genießen.  So kam um 15 Uhr die Familie zum Kaffee.  Ich hatte (wie soll es auch anders sein) Cola, da ich absolut keinen Kaffee oder Tee mag. 

Time flies and so I am a year older.  Yesterday I celebrated my birthday and since that is done a little bit different here in Germany than it is in the States, I was the one to make the cakes and have people over here to celebrate.  It is somehow expected of the birthday child and if you are too lazy to cater, then you best escape on your birthday and have a good time elsewhere (super grin).

Gescrappt habe ich auch, ich bin gerade dabei, wieder mal einige Baustellen fertig zu stellen.  Gerade arbeite ich an einem Album welches ich voriges Jahr (2013) auf dem CAR angefangen hatte, aber dann durch die Baustelle hier überhaupt nicht fertig machen konnte, denn das war alles weggepackt.  Ich werde es zeigen wenn's fertig ist, dafür könnt ihr euch aber dieses layout anschauen.

I also did some more scrapbooking.  I am trying to finish off some projects that I had already started.
right now I am working on an album which I had begun last year (2013) at the CAR, but couldn't finish it due to our "construction site" and lots of stuff still being packed away.  I will show it when I have it done.  But here is a layout I finished.

Detlef war auch fleissig.  Wenn er nicht im Garten herum wurstelt, dann bearbeitet er seine Fotos.  Er hatte ja ein altes Fenster, welches wir im Antique Cafe in Marktheidenfeld gekauft hatten, wieder hergestellt.  Nun hat er 2 Fotos in Größe von A3 ausgedruckt und das Fenster als Rahmen benutzt.  Es hängt über dem Eßeck im Anbau.

Detlef was also busy.  When he isn't puttering around in the garden, he works on his photos.  He restored an old window which we had bought in an Antique Cafe in Marktheidenfeld and printed out two pictures that he had taken on his A3 Printer, using the window as the frame.  It is now hanging in the dining corner of the sun room.

Und was mache ich sonst noch...... neben vielen Lesen... oh, achja mein Mann hat mir nun einen Kindle Paperwhite zum Geburtstag geschenkt.  Ich hatte mich ja lange dagegen gewehrt, denn ich halte gerne ein richtiges Buch in der Hand... und davon habe ich ja noch genug hier liegen.  Aber ich finde den Kindle auch sehr handlich.  Denn ich kann den schnell überall mitnehmen und es gibt Kurzgeschichten zum herunterladen welche ich sonst nicht kaufen könnte.  Also hat alles seine Vorteile.  Aber um mich nicht abzulenken vom Lesen, ich stricke nämlich immer noch, bin so richtig süchtig nach Sockenstricken und habe gerade wieder zwei Paare fertig gemacht und ein neues Paar angefangen, für meinen Mann, sozusagen als Partnerlook.

And what else am I doing...... besides lots of reading... oh which reminds me.  Hubby gave me a Kindle Paperwhite for my birthday.  For a long time I didn't really want an e-Reader because I rather hold a real book in my hand.  Well, I got plenty of real books still laying here, but I am also finding that the Kindle is very handy.  I can download short stories real quick, or a book without having to run to the store or waiting for it to arrive in the mail.  Plus I can put it in my purse and take it any where.    But that got me away from what else I have been doing.... knitting, of course.  These socks have got me hooked.  Finished another two pairs and started another pair, this one for Detlef in a partner look.

Holz und Primitives Country Malen

Vor vielen Jahren hatte ich mir in USA etliche Magazine über Folk Art gekauft, ich liebe Country Primitive und Tole Malerei und benutze diese auch gerne als Vorlagen.  So hatte mir vor einiger Zeit mein Mann aus Holz den Hahn geschnitten und ich habe ihn dann bemalt und heute ist er fertig.  Nun überlege ich wo ich ihn hinhänge oder stelle.

Many many years ago, I got myself a couple of magazines with Tole Paintings and Country Primitives since I like painting like that also.  One of the magazines gave me the Inspiration to do the hen.  Detlef cut it out of a thick Piece of Wood and I started painting the Pictures on the hen.  Today I finished it and now I gotta think about where to hang or stand it.

Ein layout und 2 kleine Keilrahmen

habe ich übers Wochenende gemacht.  Manchmal koste ich einen Regentag (gestern) total aus, ohne Gewissensbisse und ziehe mich ins Scrapeck zurück. Und weil bei uns alles blüht, konnte ich mich dem Blütenlayout nicht entziehen.

Yesterday was a rainy day, for me a good day to spend in my little scrap corner.  And since everything outside is blooming and thriving, I decided that a "bud" layout would be good to make.

Danach habe ich etwas gemanscht und während alles trocknete, habe ich Sims3 gespielt, eine andere Leidenschaft von mir.

And while playing with acrylic paints and letting a canvas dry, I played Sims 3, another "habit" of mine.

Heute habe ich dann die Keilrahmen fertig gestellt, mal anders als ich sonst mache.

Today I finished the canvas Frames, a style other than I usually make.

Teil 3 des CARs - der Montag

Der letzte Workshop Tag war Montag, der 7. April.  Inzwischen waren wir nach oben in den Wintergarten gezogen, es waren ja auch nicht mehr alle von uns anwesend.  Der Blick von da oben auf den Rhein war einfach herrlich.

In part 3 I am gonna talk about the last crop day, Monday, April 7th.  We had moved upstairs into the sunroom of the Hotel.  Some People had left already.  From up there we had a stunning view of the Rhine river.

Unser erster Workshop am Morgen war mit Dana Fleckenstein.  Mit ihr haben wir ein ganz süßes Minialbum gemacht.  Da ich noch etliche Fotos von Salzburg hatte, habe ich diese gleich in das Minibuch verarbeitet. 

Our first workshop in the morning was a mini album with Dana Fleckenstein.  I had quite a few pictures of Salzburg, so I decided to use them for this mini album. 

 Für die Seiten haben wir verschiedene Größen benutzt und das machte das ganze Mini interessant.

For each page we used different sizes which gave it an interesting look.

Zuhause habe ich das Album dann noch fertig gestellt und es hängt inzwischen im Wohnzimmer.

I finished the album at home and now it's on display in our living room.


Nach der Mittagspause ging es mit einem weiteren Workshop mit Barbara Haane weiter.  Mit ihr machten wir wieder ein layout in der form von Project Life. 

 After lunch, we a had a Workshop with Barbara Haane.  This one was again with the  pocket pages. 

Barbara zeigte uns wie man ganz viele Fotos auf diesem einen layout anbringen kann.  Wie ich schon in meinem 2. Teil erwähnt hatte, fand ich diese Idee super prima.  Der Titel war Momente im März. 

Barbara showed us how we can integrate a lot of photos into one layout.  Just as I had mentioned in Part 2 of the CAR, I loved this idea and will definitely use it again. This layout's title is Moments in March.

 

 

Nach dem letzten Workshop sind viele nach Hause gefahren, so blieben nur noch 13 von uns übrig.  Wir haben den letzten Abend zusammen oben im Wintergarten gesessen, die meisten haben gescrappt, und wir haben uns noch super unterhalten. Für meinen Mann und ich ging es am Dienstag aber noch nicht nach Hause, sondern weiter nach Oberhausen zu unseren Freunden. 

 

More People left after the last Workshop, but 13 of us stayed another night.  In the evening we sat in the crop room, some scrapped, some talked and we had a last good evening together.  For Detlef and I it wasn't a trip home on Tuesday, we continued on to Oberhausen to visit our friends who live there.



Der CAR und die CMC's

Da bin ich wieder.....  mit einem kleinen Bericht über die Tauschkarten vom CAR.  Seit 3 Jahren bin ich beim CAR dabei und seit 3 Jahren habe ich CMC's gemacht und getauscht. 

Here I am again.... with a little report about the creative memory cards (CMC's) which we exchanged at the CAR.  I created these cards three times already and exchanged mine with many wonderful other creations. 

 Dieses Jahr hatte Nicole vom Scrapbook Laden eine wunderbare Idee.  Wir bekamen eine süße winzige kleine Pizzabox und sollten eine CMC mit den darinnen enthaltenen Papierchen machen.

This year, Nicole from the Scrapbook Store had a really great idea.  She gave us this tiny Pizza box filled with Little papers and the inspiration to make a CMC.

Mir gefiel das so gut, dass ich den vorderen Teil der kleinen Box mit einem bunten Papier geschmückt als Titelseite für all meine CMC's zu benutzen welche ich auf dem CAR bekam.

I liked the idea so much, that besides making the CMC, I used the deco on top of the box as a title page for all the CMC's which I got at the CAR.

Teil 2 - part 2 of the CAR workshop on Sunday

und weiter geht es mit dem Sonntag beim CAR2014.  Da hatten wir am Morgen nämlich den Workshop mit Barbara Haane.  Ich war ja schon ganz gespannt da wir ein Panorama Bild in der Größe von 10 x 30,4 cm mitbringen sollten welches wir dann in einer Project Life Hülle zu einem layout machten.  Ich habe ja mit Project Life überhaupt nichts am Hut da ich es einfach nicht fertig bringen würde, am Ende jeder Woche eine Zusammenfassung meines Lebens zu machen.  Vielleicht wenn ich jünger wäre..... aber......     Mit diesem Workshop habe ich aber gelernt, dass man auch ohne Project Life Alben mit diesen Hüllen wunderschöne Sachen machen kann (siehe Barbara's zweiter Workshop am Montag).  Mir hat es jedenfalls Spaß gemacht und ich habe mir in den Shops in der unteren Etage weitere PL Hüllen besorgt.

my continuation of the Crop at the Rhine River continues with Sunday.  We had an interesting workshop with Barbara Haane of Scrap Impulse.   For this she wanted us to bring a Panorama Shot in the size of 4 x 12 inches.  I was really curious about this Workshop because we were going to do a layout in a Project Life photo pocket page.    I am really not into Project Life since I can never get my act together to do a weekly record of my life.  Maybe if I was younger.... perhaps, oh well.  But in this workshop I learned that you can make really nice layouts without committing yourself to a Project Life Album. (see the pics of Barbara's second workshop on Monday)  I liked it so much that I went to get quite a few photo pocket pages in the shops on the first floor of the Hotel.

Der zweite Workshop am Nachmittag war mit Daniela Peuss.  Mit ihr haben wir ein Minialbum gemacht.  Der Titel war "willkommen in meiner kleinen Welt".  Man konnte sich aber auch andere Titel aussuchen und ich entschied mich aus unseren vielen Natur Fotos ein Minialbum zu machen. 

Detlef hatte ja schon so viele Nahaufnahmen von Blumen gemacht (ich mache das auch gerne, aber er ist der bessere Fotograf) und die wollte ich nun endlich einmal verarbeiten.  Mit Zitaten die ich aus dem Internet holte, habe ich das Album dann so gestaltet. 

The second Workshop on Sunday was with Daniela Peuss.  This one was a mini album.  The suggested title was "welcome in my little world".  But we could take other titles if we wanted to and I chose to do Nature Pictures. 

Detlef always likes to take close up pictures of flowers (I do also, but his are nicer) and so I put a mixed medley of photos in this Album.  With quotes which I downloaded from the internet, this became my Album.

Das war der CAR2014, Teil 1 - part one of the Crop at the Rhein river.

Die Zeit verfliegt so schnell.  Jetzt leben wir genau ein Jahr hier in Niederbayern.  Und zwischen dem Einpacken von Kartons vorigen März und dem immer noch nicht allem ausgepackten diesen April war ich 2x beim CAR.  Da der CAR am Freitag begann, sind wir wegen der langen Fahrt schon am Donnerstag los, siehe blog unter diesem.  Und so war ich natürlich richtig entspannt und gut ausgeruht als die ersten Scrapperfreunde so langsam nach und nach ankamen.  Es ist immer so schön, alte Gesichter wieder zu sehen und neue kennenzulernen. Wir, die ersten, haben uns dann zum Mittagessen getroffen und ich habe mir diesen leckeren Salat bestellt.

Time flies by so fast.  We are living in the lower parts of Bavaria for one year now.  In between packing last March and still not having everything unpacked, I have been to the CAR (Crop at the Rhine river) twice.  As I mentioned in my last blog entry, because of the long ride, we drove up Thursday, a day before it started.  So I was well rested and relaxed when the first group of Scrapping friends arrived.   It is always so nice to see familiar faces and also get to know new people.  The ones that had arrived already had lunch together.  I had ordered this delicious salad.

Dann ging es um 14.30 zum Workshop von Conny.  Wahnsinn was Conny sich da wieder ausgedacht hatte.  Ein herrliches Album welches man gleich nach der Fertigstellung ausfüllen konnte jeden Tag, da es das Thema des CAR's hatte. 

Ganz fertig ist meines noch nicht, aber ich habe es immerhin geschafft, jeden Tag in das Buch zu schreiben und auch die Titelseiten für die 4 Tage zu dekorieren. Außerdem sind die Fotos ausgedruckt und warten nur noch darauf, eingeklebt zu werden.

 At 2:30 p.m. we had our first workshop given by the one and only Conny.  Conny is a Person that really goes out of her way to make a Workshop interesting and the outcome of it beautiful.  This Workshop was a minibook with four parts.  Each part represented one of the days spent at the crop.

Although my book isn't finished yet, I did manage to make the diary entry every day and also to decorate the four parts.  I have all the pictures printed out and just need to put them into the album now.



 

Abends um 20 Uhr war dann die Begrüßung und danach Shopping und Make & Takes in den verschiedenen Geschäften.  Davon werde ich später Fotos in meinen CAR Memories zeigen.

 

The official welcoming greeting was at 8 p.m. on Friday evening.  After that we had a chance to browse around the shops that had set up their goodies on the first floor.  Pics will follow in my "memories of the CAR". 

 

Am Sonntag hatten wir zwei Workshops, der erste um 9.30 mit Paige Taylor-Evans und der zweite um 14.30 mit Olga Heldwein.

On Sunday, we had two Workshops, at 9:30 a.m. with Paige Taylor-Evans and at 2:30 p.m. we had Olga Heldwein.

 

In Paige's Workshop haben wir layouts gemacht und hier kann man meine sehen.

Nach dem Mittagessen ging es dann weiter mit einem Mixed Media Workshop und der quirligen Olga.  Noch bevor der Workshop anfing, machte Conny erstmal ein paar lustige Kommentare die ich hier lieber nicht schreibe :-)  :-).  Aber die Handschuhe brauchte man auch für das Gemantsche.   Ich habe für den Workshop ein Bild von Millie benutzt.

Und natürlich gab es jeden Tag auch eine Kaffeepause.  Zwischen Essen, Scrappen, Naschen und viel Spaß sind solche Tage einfach nur schön.

And, of course, we had a coffee break every day.  In between eating, scrapping, nibbling Sweets and lots and lots of fun, days like these are just wonderful.
