First impressions

always count.  Die ersten Eindrücke zählen immer, und ich fühle mich hier in Oberwinter/Remagen sehr wohl.  Das ist der Ausblick vom Hotel Haus Oberwinter.

Heute morgen habe ich mir mal die Brücke von Remagen angeschaut, es war noch die Ruhe vor dem "An"Sturm der Cropper.  Davon werden dann auch Bilder folgen.

Went to see the "bridge of Remagen" this morning.  It was still quiet here in the hotel.  But now more and more scrappers are arriving and we'll be starting our weekend of fun.  More pics will follow.

Mal wieder

eine Karte gemacht. Zu mehr scrappen komme ich zur Zeit nicht, weil ich diese lieber mit den Vorbereitungen für den CAR4 verbringe und mit Dingen die zu Hause erledigt werden müssen. 

There was a little bit of time to make a card, the rest of my time is being spent getting ready for the big CAR4 weekend.  So excited.

Aber vorgestern habe ich was tolles in Nanu-Nana entdeckt als wir in der Schweinfurter Galerie waren. Größe 6 x 6 inches und nur 2,95 Euro. 

We went to the shopping center in pig city the other day and in one of the little stores there "Nanu-Nana", I found this travelling diary.  Perfect size, 6 x 6 inches with lots of different motive pages inside.

Schon alleine wegen der schönen vielen verschiedenen Innenseiten war es das Geld wert.

It cost 2,95 euros which was definitely worth the prize for all those papers which I can use for layouts or mini albums. 

Nächste Woche

ist der CAR4 (Crop am Rhein) und ich bin zum ersten Mal dabei, für 5 ganz bestimmt tolle Tage, hurrah.  Zur Zeit bin ich beschäftigt, die Fotos dafür zu suchen, sortieren und ausdrucken.  Für einen workshop habe ich mir ganz alte Bilder ausgesucht, das macht richtig Spaß durch die Alben und Fotoschachteln voller Fotos zu stöbern.  Dabei fielen mir 2 Bilder in die Hand auf denen mir etwas auffiel (grins).  Eines ist meine Tochter Melanie mit ihrer Tochter Millie (unsere Enkelin) und das andere bin ich mit meiner Tochter Melanie.  Wenn ich diese beiden Fotos dort nicht verarbeite auf einem layout, werde ich danach selbst ein layout davon machen.  Auf jeden Fall aber werden diese beiden Fotos im Buch in Buch workshop von Shimelle verwendet werden.

Next week is the CAR4 (a four day scrapbooking event near the Rhine river), yeah!  The past couple of days I have been sorting and printing pictures for all the workshops to use.  It sure is a lot of fun to look through some of the older albums and photo boxes filled with old memories.  I found two pictures that I will definitely use for the Shimelle "book-in-book" workshop and I also want to do a layout of these two.  Only when I had them together, did I notice the resemblence.  One is my daughter Melanie with her daughter Millie (our grand daughter) and the other is me holding my daughter Melanie.

Und so werde ich auch ein älteres Foto mit meiner jüngeren Tochter Jamie benutzen, damit ich auch einmal die Bilder von früher benutze.  Ich tendiere immer mit Fotos von der jetzigen Zeit zu scrappen und die alten Erinnerungen gelangen dabei in den Hintergrund.  Zum Glück habe ich all die alten Fotos vor einigen Jahren in Fotoboxen nach Jahren sortiert.

And I will also use an older picture of my younger Tochter Jamie with me.  I tend to scrap more recent photos, but I want to change that for some memory albums because I don't want "old memories" to fade away in my picture boxes. Thank goodness, I took out the time a couple of years ago to sort them all according to years.

Und als ich ein altes Album, welches mein Vater gemacht hatte, in der Hand hielt, kam mir der Gedanke, dass er wohl auch ein "Scrapbooker" war ohne es zu wissen.  Dieses Album hat er Ende der 40iger Jahre gemacht mit Teppichstoff bezogen.  Leider ist er 1957 gestorben, ich war 7 Jahre alt, aber durch seine Alben hat er mir tolle Erinnerungen hinterlassen.

When I held an album, which my father had made, it occured to me that he must have been a scrapper without knowing it :-).  He made this album at the end of 1949.  Unfortunately he died in 1957 when I was 7 years old, but the albums he left me are wonderful memories.

Und spray mist (Spritzer) hat er damals auch schon benutzt.

Even way back then he used spray mist.

So war mein Wochenende

Samstag schnell noch mal runter zum XXL Lutz gefahren und eine Kastenform geholt.  Detlef, der sich inzwischen zum Küchenchef entwickelt hat, brauchte die Form um ein Brot zu backen (unser allererstes selbstgebackenes).  Es hat übrigens lecker geschmeckt.

Our long holiday weekend (Monday is still an Easter holiday) started Saturday with a trip to the store down the road to get a baking tin.  Detlef is mutating to being a cook and baker and needed the baking dish to bake a bread (our first home-made bread).   By the way, it was delicious.

Auf der Heimfahrt sah ich ein Plakat dass für Ostersonntag und Ostermontag einen Kunst- & Kreativmarkt anzeigte.... sofort notiert.  Und da waren wir dann am Sonntagmorgen und ich konnte besonders dem Stand von Nellie Snellen nicht widerstehen, seufz.

On the drive home I saw a poster hanging up announcing an Art and Creativity Market for Sunday and Monday.   And there we were on Sunday morning.  My favorite booth was the one from the Netherlands, Nellie Snellen, sigh.

Am Nachmittag war das Wetter immer noch schön genug, dass wir einen langen Spaziergang mit Daisy auf den Naturwanderwegen hier oben gemacht haben.

The afternoon was still nice enough to take a long walk with Daisy.  We have some beautiful nature paths up here.

Gestern, Montag, war das Wetter draussen nicht gut und die beste Gelegenheit für mich einige meiner neuen Sachen zu probieren und auf meinen layout anwenden. 

Yesterday, Monday, the weather was grey in greay.  A good day,of course, for meto try some of the new stash on the layout I was just working on.

Mir hatten es besonders die Blumen- und Prägestanzer angetan. 

I especially liked the flower embossing punches. 

Ein Bad Mergentheim Mini Album

habe ich heute gemacht. Am Morgen sind mein Mann und ich erst "walken" gegangen, aber dann blieb der ganze Nachmittag zum Scrappen :-).

I made a mini album from the time when Detlef was away at the rehab clinic.  This morning, hubby and I did our "walking", but then the weather was grey and yucky enough to stay inside and use the afternoon to scrap at my heart's content.

Beim Sortieren vor einigen Wochen fielen mir einige Minialben in die Hand, die zwar angefangen waren, aber nie fertig geworden sind.  Wenn Daphne hier rein schaut, dann wird sie, glaube ich, das Album erkennen. 

When I was sorting out some stuff in my scrap room a few weeks ago, I found a box filled with unfinished work and some mini albums.

Eines dieses Alben habe ich heute dann fertig gestellt mit den Fotos von meinen Besuchen bei Detlef in Bad Mergentheim.

So I took this one to finish it and add the pictures that I took when I visited Detlef on the weekends.

Komischerweise habe ich keine Fotos im Zimmer der Klinik gemacht, aber wer möchte sich schon an solche Bilder erinnern, wir haben lieber den Kurpark und den kleinen Ort genossen.

I never took any pictures in Detlef's room, but who wants to remember those parts.  We rather think of the time together in the nice park and the walks we took through town. 

Ich mag diese alten Gebäude und auch nach so vielen Jahren zurück in Deutschland faszinieren sie mich immer noch. 

I really like the old building they have here in the small towns.  Even after so many years being back in Germany they never seize to amaze me. 

Und mit dem Wetter hatten wir auch immer Glück, wir sahen sogar zusammen die ersten Schneeglöckchen.

We were always lucky with the weather when I was there and together we also discovered the first signs of spring.
