Silvester 2009 - Happy New Year

Kaum zu glauben dass in wenigen Std. das alte Jahr zu Ende ist. Für uns war es ein Jahr mit vielen Höhen und Tiefen. Am schlimmsten war der Tod meiner Mutter. Das ist ein grosser Verlust, einen Menschen zu verlieren der einem das Leben geschenkt hat. Die beiden Wohnungsauflösungen die gleich darauf folgten, haben uns viel Nerv und Kraft gekostet. Dadurch waren wir auch ziemlich angeschlagen und haben einiges an Erkältungen und anderen Viren mitgemacht. Aber wir sind glücklich in unserem neuen Zuhause und schauen voller Zuversicht ins Neue Jahr. Ich gehe auch bewusst alles viel langsamer an und schaue viel ganz anders an. Ich habe dieses Jahr auch einiges gelernt, besonders dass das Leben sehr kostbar ist. Jeder Tag ist ein neuer Anfang und ein Geschenk. In diesem Sinne wünsche ich all meiner Familie und meinen Freunden und Bekannten ein wunderbares Neues Jahr.

Hard to believe that in a few hours a new year will start. For us the past year was full of ups and downs. The worst thing that happened was the death of my mom. It is a great loss to lose that person who gave you life. Cleaning out the two apartments immediately after mom's death was very hard and difficult. It cost us a lot of stamnia and our resistence was low and we caught colds and other viruses. But we are happy in our new surroundings and look full of hope into the new year. I look at life differently now and I learned that it is very precious. Each new day is a gift. With this in mind I wish my whole family and our friends a very healthy new year.

Missed out on Christmas

Kann mich heute erst wieder auf wackeligen Beinen melden, da für mich die ganzen Weihnachtsfeiertage wortwörtlich in den Eimer fielen. Die ganzen 3 Tage konnte ich nichts anders tun als vom Bett ins Bad kriechen und wieder zurück ins Bett. Heute versuche ich den Weihnachtsbraten zu machen, damit Detlef wenigstens wieder etwas vernünftiges zu Essen bekommt. Und ich geniesse dass ich nicht mehr zur Toilette rennen muss. So wird man auch für kleine Dinge dankbar. Dafür hab ich noch ein süsses Foto von Daisy nachdem sie ihre Weihnachtsmütze abgeworfen hat.All of the three Christmas holidays literally went down the drain for me. I really had that stomach virus real bad, I never made it to the couch on Christmas eve. Instead I crawled into bed with a bucket, crawled back out to the bathroom and that went on for two full days, but still kept me laying flat on the third day. Today is the first day where I am trying to make the dinner I had planned for Christmas so that at least Detlef finally gets a good meal. And I am so enjoying not having to run to the bathroom. Merry Christmas

Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday season. And now I am gonna crawl on the couch again. I got the same stomach virus that Detlef has, so there will be no turkey, only crackers and water.

Frohes Fest. Ich verkrieche mich jetzt wieder auf die Couch, habe den Magen-Darm Virus von Detlef geschnappt. Kein Weihnachtsbraten, nur Zwieback heute abend.

Christmas Blues

It's snowing outside again, but I've got the Christmas blues a little. These will be the first holidays without mom, been thinking about her a lot lately. Plus the kids being on the other side of the ocean makes it a little bit sad. Detlef's back still isn't much better, but enough complaining, maybe some Christmas music will cheer me up.

Es schneit wieder draussen, aber ich habe ein wenig die Weihnachts depris. Das sind die ersten Feiertage ohne meine Mutter und das ist schon ein komisches Gefühl. Ich habe in letzter Zeit sehr viel an sie gedacht und wie schnell eigentlich alles vorbei ist. Obendrauf sind ja die "Kinder" weg über dem grossen Teich und Detlef's Rücken hat sich auch noch nicht gebessert. Genug gemeckert, vielleicht hebt ein bisschen Weihnachtsmusik die Stimmung.

Die Einladungen werden morgen in dieser box abgegeben. Und dann habe ich fertig.

Die 20 Einladungen sind fertig

geworden heute. Habe aber auch den ganzen Nachmittag bis jetzt daran gearbeitet, genäht, geklebt, geschnitten, embossed, und gestanzt. Spass hats gemacht. Und zwischendurch habe ich noch 22 Weihnachtskarten geschrieben. Morgen wird alles zur Post gebracht, die Einladungen nochmal überprüfen lassen und dann kann ich am Samstag hoffentlich einfach mal die Seele baumeln lassen.

Today I finished the twenty wedding invitations for my Beautician. I worked on them all afternoon, sewing, glueing, cutting, embossing and punching. It was lots of fun. In between I wrote 22 Christmas cards. Tomorrow I am bringing them to the Post Office, going to the Beauty Parlor to have the invitations checked to see if they are correct since they are in another language, Romanian. Saturday I might just decide to be lazy.

Leise rieselte der Schnee....

als ich heute morgen aus dem Fenster schaute. Es schneite immer noch fest als ich mit Daisy Gassi ging. Leider konnte Detlef immer noch nicht mithalten, es geht ihm richtig fies und morgen früh fahre ich ihn wieder zur Behandlung. Ein Lichtblick, ein Weihnachtspäckchen von Melanie kam hier an. Yummy, Pancake Mix und Syrup. Das muss ich bald probieren.

It was a sugar coated view this morning when I woke up. It was still snowing went I took Daisy for her walk. Detlef still couldn't keep up with us, his back hasn't gotten any better and tomorrow morning I am taking him for another treatment at the therapist. But one happy moment was Melanie's package today. Pancake mix and syrup, yummy. Can't wait to try it.

Night time is the right time

to write Christmas cards when you don't have the time during the day. Spent most of the morning with Detlef at the doctors and Physical Therapy. His back is so bad, he has to go for treatments for quite a while. So, this is the time now when all is quiet to write my cards.

Ich werde zur Nacht Eule mit meinen Karten. Tagsüber war keine Zeit zum Schreiben. Habe mit Detlef den Morgen beim Arzt und Therapeuten verbracht. Sein Rücken ist ziemlich schlimm geworden und er hat starke Schmerzen. So, jetzt wo alles still im Haus ist, da schreibe ich meine Weihnachtskarten.

Time goes fast

when you are having a good time. And that we had with our friends Edda (named Eddie by Millie) and Werner from Oberhausen. Saturday we went to the Christmas Market and Werner had the biggest hot dog available there :-). Detlef was jealous when he saw the picture, but unfortunately he had to stay at home because he had hurt his back real bad and got 3 shots at the doctor today. He can't even stand on his legs and hopefully will feel better soon.

I am going to make some more cards, since I got another order and will be busy in my room while poor hubby lays on the couch.

Die Zeit rennt wenn es schön ist. Und so war es wie unser Besuch aus Oberhausen hier war, die Edda (Eddie genannt von Millie) und Werner. Samstag waren wir auf dem Weihnachtsmarkt und die "Riesenwurscht" die Werner vertilgt hat kann man hier bewundern. Detlef war ganz neidisch als er das Foto sah, aber er konnte leider nicht mit da er flach liegt, und zwar auf dem Rücken. Den hat er sich verzerrt und musste heute vom Arzt 3 Spritzen bekommen. Er kann kaum laufen, geschweige denn sitzen.
Während der Arme auf der Couch liegt, bin ich in meinem Scrapzimmer und gestalte Karten und tröste ihn ab und zu.

Geschenketüten

Zur Post bin ich heute morgen nicht gekommen, der Installateur war mal wieder hier, aber nun scheint unser Abwasserproblem endlich gelöst zu sein. So habe ich diese Geschenketüten für eine Freundin gemacht, und dabei gleich wieder die neue cartridge Winter Woodland benutzen können. Die Karten habe ich aber gestern abend noch fertig gekriegt, habe die halbe Nacht dran gearbeitet und bringe sie jetzt zur Post sobald es draussen zu Hageln aufhört.Didn't get to the Post Office this morning, the plumber was here again, but it seems like he could fix the problem we had with the drain in the basement. So I used the time at home to make gift bags, using the new cartridge again to make the tags for the bags. I finished my cards last night, working half the night. Once this hail storm is over, I am going to the Post Office.

Instead of writing my cards

I played around with my new cricut cartridge "Winter Woodland" and made this little "test" house. In the morning, I had gone into town and bought new winter boots. Let it snow... and I know what I'll be doing all evening so I can go to the Post Office early tomorrow.

Anstatt dass ich die Weihnachtskarten geschrieben habe, spielte ich mittags mit der neuen Cricut Cartridge "Winter Woodland" herum und probierte dieses Häuschen. Am Morgen war ich in der Stadt und holte mir neue Winterstiefel. Jetzt kann es schneien und ich weiss was ich heute abends machen werde, damit ich morgen früh gleich zum Postamt fahren kann.

St. Nick's Day

December 6th is Saint Nikolas Day in Germany. We saw him in town today after strolling through the Christmas market. Tonight the kids will put out their shoes and hope to have them filled with candy and chocolates in the morning.

Finally

I started my USA cards since I need to get them into the mail next week.

Endlich habe ich meine Karten für die USA angefangen, vor lauter "kreativ sein" komme ich gar nicht zum Schreiben. Die müssen aber nächste Woche in die Post damit sie noch rechtzeitig angekommen.

Geburtstagskalendar

Bin heute morgen mit Schmerzen im unteren Rückenbereich aufgewacht. Die Schmerzen ziehen sich bis runter zum Knie und da ich nicht sitzen kann und zum Glück sowieso ein Stehscrapper bin, dekoriere ich heute meinen Kalender, welchen wir in Ansbach machten, mit Fotos. Mein Favorit ist bis jetzt der Oktober, das Bild von Millie passt genau da hin.Woke up with pains in my lower back, my right leg hurts and I can't sit without pain. Good thing I am a stand up scrapper, so that I can decorate the Happy Birthday calendar we made in Ansbach. My favorite so far is October since the picture of Millie fits perfect with the haunted house deco.

Went to a scrapbook workshop in Ansbach, had lots of fun, did lots of things and, of course, bought lots of scrapbooking stuff :-).
Der workshop in Ansbach war total klasse, wir haben viel gemacht, viel Spass gehabt und ich habe natürlich viel gekauft :-).

In 2001 haben wir uns die Thanksgiving Parade in New York angesehen, und da heute Thanksgiving ist, passen die Bilder gut.

Decorating our new home

After recovering from a 2-day migraine, I started decorating our new place today. Now that we have so much more room, I could use more of my Christmas stuff that was put away in boxes. And I also had a teeny weeny bit of time to make some more cards. Nachdem ich 2 Tage lang mal wieder unter Migräne litt und es mir heute besser ging, habe ich meine Weihnachtsdeko hervor geholt. Da wir ja nun so viel mehr Platz haben, konnte ich all meine Sachen aus den Kisten im Keller hervor holen. Und zwischendurch fand ich ein klitzekleines bisschen Zeit für Weihnachtskarten.
